The Faculty of Administrative Science  and Policy  Studies was established on January 14, 2004. Although a  new faculty  (in name),  the historical roots date back to 1965  when  the  School  of  Administration and Law was set up. The school began as a  center  offering British  external  programs namely, the Chartered Institute of Secretaries (now Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators)  and  external LLB  (Honours), University of  London . The only internal  program  offered  then  was the Diploma in  Public Administration and Local  Government.  This  flagship  program  was  renamed  Diploma  in  Public Administration  and  is  now  also  offered  via the Electronic Distance Learning mode in almost all campuses.

Institute for Research on Socio-economic Policy UiTM-CMI

Institut Penyelidikan Dasar Sosio-ekonomi UiTM-CMI (IPDSe UiTM-CMI)

The Institute for Research on Socio-economic Policy UiTM-CMI was established on January 1st, 2016 as a research institute under the Faculty of Administrative Science  and Policy  Studies. The establishment of this institute marked a collaborative efforts following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) Norway on May 7th, 2015. While this institute is undergoing its early establishment; a number of initiatives have been undertaken to develop the institute such as: 

• Conducted an international seminar on "Intergrated Policy Development", jointly organised by ICAN FSPPP, IPDSe UiTM-CMI and Universitas Pasundan Bandung.

• Compiling research/reports/documents related to socio-economic policy.

• Application for research grants (national and international).

• At present, the IPDSe UiTM-CMI is organizing for a national seminar - National Seminar Series UiTM-CMI 2016: Confronting homelessness and street children issues in Malaysia, that will be held on 23rd May 2016 (Monday).
